I remember the first time we pulled out cameras in this class, I was so confused because I had never used any digital camera like this before. It was frustrating at first because I had a hard time coming up with pictures to take. One of the first photos I took was of the lockers (as seen below) I was so lost in what to do and couldn't get my camera to focus on an object like I wanted it to (as seen in the flower photo below). So for about the first two weeks all my photos turned out a little rough, below are some of my first photos to express my struggles. Worst PhotosEventually once I was taught about shutter speed, aperture and ISO I grew to become a better photographer. By knowing the key aspects of taking photos I was able to see growth in the quality of my photos each week. Once I knew what I was doing I started to like taking pictures on a digital camera. Below are two of my favorite photos from shooting assignments, I love the colors in each picture and how there's no motion blur, everything looks nice and clean. Best PhotosLooking back on this trimester and how far I have come in this class, I think it was a really cool opportunity. I never would've learned half the stuff I know about cameras now if I hadn't taken this class, I now have a new passion for photography that I hope to use further on in my life.

For this assignment I had to create two photos in photoshop that give a visual of the words meaning I chose. This was a very fun and creative assignment that I enjoyed. Below I have the two photos pasted onto one canvas, I hope you enjoy! From this assignment I learned many new things about blending photos, when brought in off google. One thing I found fun was all the bright colors in each photo, like in happiness, it makes you feel happy! So overall I thought this had a good outcome and I really enjoyed creating these.
For this assignment I had to create three images that expressed three different puns. Below I have all three of my puns pasted on to one canvas. I hope you can figure them out! If you had a hard time figuring them out, the first was "cool as a cucumber" the second was "Starbucks" and the last was a "sand witch". I had a fun time creating these images and using photoshop. So overall I thought this had a good turnout and it was a really fun assignment.
For this weeks shooting assignment I chose my topic to be people. My goal with this assignment was to show and capture the emotion of others in photography. Below I have the best photo I took, edited and non-edited, along with five other photos that had a decent outcome. #1 PhotoI chose this photo because it was the best one with both twins in the photo. I thought it turned out very cute. The image triangle for this photo was a shutter speed of 1/250th, an aperture of 3.2 f/stops and an ISO of 1600. Five other people photos...Overall I thought this assignment turned out decent. Some of the pictures were really grainy since I had to take the photos inside and there was no natural light. So lighting was the main thing I struggled with but overall a pretty good turnout.
For this assignment I had to take multiple pictures in the same location on a tripod with a person doing different poses in different spots of the picture. This was my second time using a tripod so I found this assignment pretty fun. Below I have two of my final photos. From this assignment I learned how to create stacks of images on Photoshop. One thing I struggled with was when I had to use a paintbrush to fix any imperfections of the photo. Overall I thought this was a very fun project that had a pretty good turnout.
For this weeks shooting assignment I chose animal. The animal I chose to photograph was my dog, Charlie, he has a hard time sitting still so it was quite the challenge trying to take his photos! Below I have my best photo and then five others that I thought had a good turn out. #1 PhotoI liked this photo a lot because it looks like he is smiling. This was one of the few times he actually listened to me when I told him to sit, so that is why the photo turned out successful. The image triangle of this photo had an aperture of 2.8 f/stops, a shutter speed of 1/100th and an ISO set to 80. Five other animal photos...From this assignment I learned a lot of new things when photographing animals. For example, how to be patient when you're model has a short attention span. Also I realized how much natural light does in a photo, no grainy-ness. Overall, I was pretty happy with the outcome of these photos and I hope you enjoyed too!
For this assignment I had to take multiple portrait photos of people in studio light and natural light. Below is my studio photo, natural light photo and the final product in photoshop. From this assignment I learned many new useful tips for when taking portrait photos. I also learned how lighting really helps a photo and can effect the overall look a ton. I thought this assignment had a good outcome and I enjoyed taking these photos.
For this shooting assignment I chose to do the theme black and white. I used photos from different times that I found looked good with a black and white filter. So below I have my best image with and without edits then five other photos that I thought had a good turnout. #1 ImageIn this photo I was trying to capture the small details of the lighthouse, I chose this image as my number one photo because I really liked how the black and white theme made the lighthouse kind of stand out more. The image triangle for this photo had an aperture of 6.3 f/stops, a fast shutter speed of 1/800th, I needed a quick shutter speed because it was windy and I was on a boat when I took this picture. Then finally my ISO was set to 200. Five other black and white photos...From this assignment I learned many things about black and white that I will use for further projects. One thing that I found difficult was trying to make the photos not look so grainy. I also took these images a little later at night which is why they appear so dark, which also could have impacted the grainy-ness of each photo. But overall I think these photos had a decent turnout.
For this assignment I had to pick a couple of different photo shop tutorials off YouTube to tryout new techniques on photos. I found this a very fun assignment and the photos had a pretty good turnout, so below I have 3 photos with their link and before and after. A dash of color tutorial...Lightbulb photo manipulation tutorial...LINK: https://youtu.be/XnzGFtUevts Transparent clothes effect tutorial...LINK: https://youtu.be/EvazECoMvrM From this assignment I learned many new techniques that I can now use for later photo projects when using photo shop. My favorite tutorial was the transparent t-shirt, I like how the shirt blended in so easily, and it really turned out to be not as hard as I thought it would. One thing that I had trouble with was the lightbulb tutorial, I found it hard to perfectly shade/fit all of the images that went into the lightbulb, but overall I thought it still had a pretty good outcome. So I was very pleased with this assignment and I hope you enjoyed it too.
For this shooting assignment I chose Nature! I was in Mackinac Island so it was the perfect setting for nature photography. By being in a cool atmosphere I was able to find all kinds of colors in nature. I thought the turnout of the photos was great and fun, I hope you enjoy! Below I have my number one photo with and without edits then five other photos that I thought had a good outcome. #1 imageI chose this photo as my #1 because I thought it was really bright and pretty, so it made me feel happy. The landscaping at the resort I stayed was super pretty so this was one of the many flower pictures I took and below I have some more. The image triangle of this photo had an aperture of 3.5 f/stops, a shutter speed of 1/200th (the shutter speed had to be fast since it was a little windy) and the ISO was set to 200 because of how bright it was outside. 5 other images...From this assignment I learned a lot more about taking photos outside. When shooting in a bright area I got a better understanding for how the ISO, shutter speed and aperture all are adjusted. One thing I found useful in shooting nature photography would be looking for the bright colors that stand out. Also by looking for simplicity, you don't want the photo to have tons of distractors, focus on one topic. So overall I thought these photos had a nice outcome and I enjoyed this shooting assignment.
